Details are thin on the ground and it may yet prove to be mere conjecture but it seems that the DS is possibly due for a refit.
The story began in Japanese business newspaper ‘Nikkei’ so you would imagine it has some degree of credibility, it reports that an upcoming DS model is going to duke it out with Apple’s all conquering iPhone and similar mobile devices.
This will mean that the DS will have to incorporate a camera plus a music playback function not to mention the ability to connect with ‘information terminals’ so you can access location sensitive news.
Another article (which was removed from Monex.co.jp) proposed that the new DS will be capable of sharing information with the Wii via the SD slot.
It looks like exciting times ahead for the DS, but when and if these features happen is the big question, they could be some time coming…we’ll keep you informed.
