OK we all knew it was coming but now it’s 100% official, the successor to the DS Lite has been announced and it’s name is the Nintendo DSi.
The major features of the console are:
Two cameras
The DSi comes with an external 0.3 Megapixel camera plus a VGA camera placed on the hinge this will allow you to edit pictures using the touchscreen.
Music playback function
Bigger screen
OK it’s not exactly IMAX but the DSi screens are expanded to 3.25 inches.
An SD card slot and a brand new DS-specific download service
The DSi will include an in-built web browser allowing for games to be downloaded from DSWare a brand new service which accepts Wii points (except they are now called Nintendo Points!)
Slimmer
Overall console size has been trimmed making the DSi 12% slimmer than the Lite.
It all sounds good enough but there is a catch – firstly there is no room for the GBA slot plus it is only launching in Japan with the rest of us having to wait till spring next year to have a good look at the DSi.
So don’t be shy! What’s the verdict?
