Towards the end of most major rock concerts there will be a lull in the proceedings as the band thanks the fans for coming and gives (a bit) of credit to ‘the people behind the scenes’.
Activision boss Bob Kotnick had just such a moment at the Goldman Sachs Communicopia XVII Conference.
He firstly announced that Guitar Hero is outselling Rock Band 6 copies to 1 (the games equivalent of ‘Thanks for making us Number 1′) , he then thanked his record label (Universal) for providing access to their massive catalogue of tunes.
There wasn’t a dry eye in the house as he thanked the ‘ close to 2000 people dedicated to Guitar Hero note tracking, introduction of new hardware and software development’.
There was probably a quick firework show and then ‘Thank You and Goodnight!’.
Bob Kotnick has left the building.
